Invented more than 5 decades ago, the modern shipping container is the linchpin in our global distribution network of products.
A number of resourceful people have also converted shipping containers to make makeshift shelters at the margin of society for years, architects and green designers are also increasingly turning to the strong cheap boxes and source building blocks.
Shipping containers can be readily modified with a range of creature comforts and can be connected and stacked to create a modular efficient space for a fraction of the cost.

Shipping Containers: Use Wisely
Shipping containers are extremely useful commodities for businesses for storing different materials, equipment or the safe keeping of transport. They can however be quite costly. Fortunately it is possible to purchase second hand containers which come at a fraction of the price of newer alternatives.
Some businesses may not like the thought of taking on somebody else's used equipment but these containers are often just as good as the new models with any damaged or broken parts being replaced, a fresh coat of paint and customised to meet your needs they will look as good as new. In addition to this you are looking to make a saving of up to 50%.

Containers
Containers are box-like structures usually manufactured from steel and used for the transportation or storage of all types of products.
Most types of container have a steel frame and sides of beaded sheet steel. They can be lined or unlined according to need. Floors can be of wood, either marine grade plywood sheet or hardwood plank, or aluminium.
Refrigerated containers are designed for the storage and transportation of perishable items such as foodstuffs and chemicals. These can be either frozen or chilled.
Air-flow and circulation through the container is aided by the use of T-sectioned flooring.
Insulated containers lined with polyurethane or similar materials are used for products that may be susceptible to condensation or sudden temperature changes.
The standard ISO container is generally known as a shipping container and is used not only in ships but also as a goods container transportable by train, plane and lorry too.
These containers and those used for the storage or movement of dangerous goods such as fuels, pesticides and fuels, have to comply with a range of regulations according to specific use. These can include ISO standards, Health Safety Executive guidelines and the Container Safety Code.
